PlayStation 5 Launch

Microsoft brought next-generation gaming to us with their long-awaited Xbox Series X and Series S launch on November 10th. Today, Sony launches its much-anticipated console, the PlayStation 5.

As gamers eagerly pick up their brand new consoles, this exciting new era of gaming promises to bring us faster load times, higher frame rates, and of course, 4K and even 8K resolution graphics. The 2013 launch of the PlayStation 4 feels like a lifetime ago! It certainly gave us a generation filled with amazing exclusives for the console. Exclusives that we expect to see enhanced and fully backward compatible for PlayStation 5.

Sony aims to ship as many consoles as possible to ensure that everyone can get one this Holiday season. But amidst a growing pandemic, pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 were both disastrous and disappointing. Not only that, but most retailers are opting only to fulfill orders via online pickup to add a better layer of safety for consumers during this pandemic. We can only hope that those wanting either of the newly released consoles can secure one on launch day.

In unfortunate cases, some users have been experiencing bricking of their consoles via a storage glitch. Users over at Reddit have already begun to report hardware failures. So far, these reports are rare and we hope that this trend continues.

The MysteryBlock team has already begun to receive units and, in the coming days, will be doing a breakdown on all the new features, functionalities, and some of the launch games.

Were you one of the lucky few able to secure a PlayStation 5 on launch day? If so, did you opt for the Disc Version or Digital Version? Let us know in the comments below!
