Week 4 of our weekly installment of games to play while practicing social distancing picks up where Week 3 left off. We’ll journey back 26 years to the forefront of gaming, look at a few new tactical strategy games, a chaotic multiplayer that will have you yelling at your co-op buddy, and an eerie trek into a traumatic mind.

Moving Out (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC)

If you like games that ruin friendships in an instant, check out Moving Out! In this hilarious co-op sim you become a Furniture Arrangement & Relocation Technician, or F.A.R.T., and pursue a career in moving furniture! You and 3 of your soon to be ex-friends are the newest employees of the Smooth Moves Removalists! Your objective: Grab all of the belongings and throw them on the moving truck with little to no regard for property damage. All before the clock runs out. If you enjoy games like Overcooked or Tools Up! then Moving Out may be up your alley.

XCOM Chimera Squad (PC)

The next chapter in the XCOM series takes us 5 years into the future after XCOM 2, where aliens and human-kind try to coexist. The Chimera Squad are a rag-tag task force made up of humans and aliens with a truly diverse lineup of characters and abilities. Whether you’re coming in through the skylight, a side window, or straight through the front door the Breach phase of each mission is a much-welcomed addition.

Gears Tactics (PC, Xbox One)

If you’re a fan of Gears of War you may have heard about Gears Tactics. Although not a traditional third-person shooter, Gears Tactics takes the franchise and completely changes the gameplay. Inspired by games like XCOM, Gears Tactics is a turn-based strategy spin-off of Gears of War that takes place 12 years prior to the events of the first Gears of War. Customize your squad, equipment loadout, and plan your attack in this aggressive digital tabletop strategy game.

Streets of Rage 4 (PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One)

It’s been 26 years since the last time we saw an installment in the Streets of Rage franchise. With 3 studios behind its development, most notably the one that created the hand-drawn visuals of the beautiful remake of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Streets of Rage 4 picks up where the original trilogy left off. Introducing new mechanics, an all-new story, and 17 playable characters! Rid Wood Oak City of its crime-infested streets alone or with a friend online. Or team up with 3 additional players offline and take the city back!

The Inner Friend (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)

The Inner Friend was a game that may have gone unnoticed when it released in 2018, but we’re thrilled that it has finally landed on Xbox and PS4. A first-person horror game, The Inner Friend tells an immersive story through a surreal world of subconscious childhood memories and traumas. If you’re a fan of visual storytelling then The Inner Friend is definitely worth a look. The creative minds at PLAYMIND have truly built one of the best atmospheric games that will leave you speechless at times.
