The Last of Us Part II swept The Game Awards 2020 showcase, walking away with the biggest prize of the night, Game of the Year. The game also snagged Best Narrative, Best Audio Design, and Best Performance. Join us as we break down the biggest award show in gaming and who walked away with a prize.
This year’s presentation was without an audience and instead aired live via Zoom from 3 locations worldwide, including Los Angeles, Tokyo, and London. It featured special award presentations from Brie Larson, Gal Gadot, Keanu Reeves, Christopher Nolan, and others. The show also featured performances from the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder, who performed ‘Future Days’ from The Last of Us Part II.
Lastly, it wouldn’t be The Game Awards if we weren’t given some World Premiere trailers for some of gaming’s biggest upcoming releases. With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate announcing the arrival of Final Fantasy VII’s, Sephiroth to Smash, a new installment in the Perfect Dark series, a teaser to the future of Mass Effect, and many others.
