This morning, Microsoft announced that it will be increasing the price of Xbox Live Gold. Xbox Live has already seen an increase from $4.99 to $9.99 in recent years and is now increasing to $10.99.
What does this mean for you?
According to Microsoft, if you’re an existing 12-month or 6-month Xbox Live Gold member there will be no price change. Furthermore, if you choose to renew your membership, it will renew at your current price.
The price of a 1-month membership is increasing $1 and the price of a 3-month membership will increase $5 depending on your local market.
However, if you upgrade your Xbox Gold membership to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate your remaining months will convert to Ultimate. This works for up to 36 months. For example, if you have 11 months of Xbox Live Gold now, and you upgrade to Game Pass Ultimate, those 11 months convert to 11 months of Ultimate at no additional cost. Honestly, Game Pass Ultimate is where it’s at and offers the best value for your money.
For $14.99 you get Xbox Live Gold and all the features included in Game Pass for PC, Game Pass for Xbox, and cloud gaming. You also get Xbox Game Studio titles on release day! Microsoft has sent notifications to Xbox Live Gold members stating the increase takes effect 45 days after receiving the message.
